Tibet 5 Days Tour by Flight from Kathmandu

Depart from Kathmandu with transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your scenic Trans-Himalayan flight to Gonggar Airport, Lhasa (approximately 1 hour). Upon arrival, complete immigration and permit formalities before driving about 1 hour to Lhasa city. The rest of the day is reserved for relaxation and acclimatization to the high altitude, allowing your body to adjust comfortably to the Tibetan plateau. Overnight stay at Hotel Yak in Lhasa.

Start your full day of touring Lhasa’s main attractions at the famous Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Dalai Lama’s former winter palace. Take a tour of the bustling Barkhor Bazaar, where you can observe local life and purchase traditional Tibetan handicrafts, after visiting the revered Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s holiest site. Explore Sera Monastery, which is well-known for its exquisite chapels and animated monk disputes, and Drepung Monastery, which was once the biggest monastery in the world, in the afternoon. In the evening, head back to your lodging.

Spend the night at the Hotel Yak in Lhasa.

In the morning, visit the magnificent Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama, renowned for its grand chapels, giant Buddha statues, and vibrant monastic life. After the visit, continue your journey, driving across the Gyatchula Pass (5,200m), one of the highest passes on the route, offering breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and the Tibetan plateau. Descend from the pass and proceed to Kyirung, a charming border town, where you will check into your hotel for the night.

After breakfast, drive from Kyirung to the Rasuwagadhi Border. Complete all necessary border formalities on both the Tibetan and Nepalese sides. Once cleared, continue the drive back to Kathmandu, concluding your memorable journey through the mystical landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Tibet.
