Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu

Welcome to Nepal!

The representatives will warmly welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, and shift you to your specific hotel with our private vehicle. Check-in at the hotel, and according to your arrival time, we will adjust our meeting time for a brief trip discussion.

Day 2Drive from Kathmandu to Kerung Border

Early in the morning, we begin our journey with a scenic drive from Kathmandu toward the Kerung border, the gateway to Tibet. The ride offers stunning views of terraced hills, rivers, and remote villages in northern Nepal. This route gives you a glimpse of both nature and culture, making your Nepal tour and expedition feel authentic from day one. The evening will be spent acclimatizing at the border town, preparing your body for the altitude.

Day 3Cross into Tibet and Drive to Tingri

Today, we will cross into Tibet after immigration formalities. Our destination is Tingri, a town known for panoramic views of the Himalayas of Nepal and Tibet. As we gain elevation, the terrain becomes drier and more rugged, resembling a high-altitude desert. This day is crucial for acclimatization, and our trekking guide in Nepal will monitor your health to ensure you’re fit to proceed. The views of distant snow-capped peaks—including Cho-Oyu—will keep your camera busy.

Day 4Acclimatization Day in Tingri

An acclimatization hike around Tingri is essential for adapting to the altitude. We’ll take a short trek to nearby ridges that provide clear views of Cho-Oyu, Everest, and other peaks in the Himalayas of Nepal. This also gives you time to absorb Tibetan culture—prayer flags fluttering in the wind, yak caravans, and local tea houses. These brief hikes strengthen your lungs for the main trek, making this an integral part of trekking in Nepal and beyond.

Day 5Trek from Tingri to Lung Thang

Your real trekking in Nepal experience begins as we head from Tingri to Lung Thang. The trail passes through open valleys and river crossings, surrounded by majestic mountain views. Our trekking guide in Nepal will lead you through narrow paths where you’ll encounter nomadic yak herders and possibly rare Himalayan wildlife. Lung Thang is a traditional Tibetan village where we’ll set up camp for the night, enjoying warm meals and local hospitality under starry skies.

Day 6Reach Cho-Oyu Base Camp

Today is the highlight of your Nepal tour and expedition—we reach Cho-Oyu Base Camp! The walk is moderately challenging but extremely rewarding. As you ascend, the views become increasingly dramatic with towering ice walls, glacier fields, and wind-carved cliffs. Upon reaching the base camp, you’ll be standing at the foot of the world’s sixth-highest mountain, surrounded by silent beauty that even Everest Base Camp cannot match in solitude and purity. Our crew sets up camp while you explore the terrain.

Day 7Rest Day at Cho-Oyu Base Camp

This rest day at Cho-Oyu Base Camp is for recovery and exploration. You can hike around the glacier, capture incredible photographs, or just enjoy the silence of the Himalayas of Nepal. Our trekking guide in Nepal will explain the geography, altitude impact, and stories of mountaineers who have attempted the summit. Unlike the bustling Everest Base Camp, this area is peaceful and spiritual, offering a deeper connection with nature.

Day 8Return Trek to Tingri

We retrace our steps back to Tingri with lighter packs and fuller hearts. The trail feels different as you descend—perhaps more familiar but no less beautiful. Along the way, you’ll reflect on your journey, the people you’ve met, and the raw power of the Himalayas of Nepal. Back in Tingri, we’ll spend the night in comfort, recharging for our return to Nepal. This day also allows for flexibility in case of weather or altitude delays.

Day 9 Drive Back to Kathmandu

We drive back from Tingri across the Tibet-Nepal border into Kathmandu, completing a round-trip full of adventure and cultural richness. Our Nepal Trek and Expedition team will handle all border formalities, making your journey hassle-free. After a long but scenic drive, you’ll arrive in Kathmandu, where you can enjoy a hot shower, good food, and some final shopping. It’s the perfect way to end your Nepal tour and expedition.

Day 10Departure

Depending on your travel plans, today is either your departure from Nepal or the beginning of another adventure. Our staff will provide airport transfer assistance and help you with check-outs. If you’re staying longer, we can organize other treks like Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit, or even jungle safaris. Nepal Trek and Expedition remains at your service with personalized travel solutions, top-rated trekking guide in Nepal, and expert logistical support.
