Sightseeing in Thimphu:
Evening: Leisure stroll around Thimphu city (time permitting).
Start the day with a visit to the Traditional School of Arts & Crafts (Zorig Chusum), where skilled artisans practice Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts. Then, explore Tashichho Dzong, the impressive fortress that houses Bhutan’s government and monastic offices. Next, stop by the Mini Zoo, home to the Takin, Bhutan’s national animal. After sightseeing in Thimphu, drive to Punakha, the country’s former capital. Visit the beautiful Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 by the spiritual leader Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, located at the meeting point of the Male and Female rivers. Finally, stop at Chimi Lhakhang, known as the Fertility Temple, before heading to your hotel in Punakha for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, visit Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple, and take time to explore the scenic Punakha Valley, known for its lush landscapes and serene beauty. Following this, embark on a picturesque drive back to Thimphu, passing through the stunning Dochula Pass at 3,100 meters, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayan mountain range and see the 108 memorial chortens built in honor of Bhutanese soldiers. From Thimphu, continue your journey to Paro, arriving in time to relax at your hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, embark on a rewarding hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), which takes approximately four hours round trip. This sacred site clings to the cliffs and offers breathtaking views of the Paro Valley. After completing the hike, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most revered temples. Continue to the National Museum (Ta Dzong), which houses an extensive collection of Bhutanese art and historical artifacts. If time permits, enjoy an optional visit to a traditional farmhouse for an authentic cultural experience. Return to your hotel in Paro for an overnight stay.
